How buyer-side fees are calculated, how seller fees work and why checkout fees are shown before payment.
Cardmine shows buyer-side checkout fees before payment starts:
The default Buyer Protection formula is:
| Part | Amount |
|---|---|
| Percentage | 5% of the item subtotal |
| Fixed amount | EUR 0.85 |
| Cap | No cap |
The item subtotal means the card price before shipping. If your cart contains cards from multiple sellers, each seller order gets its own Buyer Protection calculation because each seller ships and settles separately.
Before payment starts, Cardmine estimates Stripe processing costs and future seller payout costs. If Buyer Protection plus the base service fee would not cover those costs and the configured minimum per-order margin, checkout adds the required top-up to the existing Service fee line.
There is no separate payment-risk fee label.
Cardmine also charges sellers a low seller fee on completed card sales. The default seller fee is 4% of the item subtotal, excluding shipping. It is deducted from the seller wallet credit after payment; it is not added to the buyer total.
| Item subtotal | Default Buyer Protection | Default seller fee |
|---|---|---|
| EUR 1.00 | EUR 0.90 | EUR 0.04 |
| EUR 5.00 | EUR 1.10 | EUR 0.20 |
| EUR 20.00 | EUR 1.85 | EUR 0.80 |
| EUR 50.00 | EUR 3.35 | EUR 2.00 |
| EUR 100.00 | EUR 5.85 | EUR 4.00 |
Checkout always shows the exact buyer-facing amount before you pay. Seller net is shown to the seller in their sales and wallet flow.
