How ship-by deadlines work and what happens when a seller does not ship in time.
After checkout is paid, the seller gets a ship-by deadline. The deadline protects buyers from waiting indefinitely and gives sellers a clear operational target.
For tracked shipping, the seller needs the required carrier progress in time. Depending on the flow, that can include creating the controlled carrier label and getting a carrier scan.
For Cardmine Letter Mail, the seller must mark the order as posted only after handing the letter to the postal service.

This is why sellers should not mark Letter Mail as posted early. Marking it posted means the seller is confirming the letter has actually been handed to the postal service.
